Digital volume tomography (DVT)
Digital volume tomography (DVT) is a further development of computed tomography (CT). The difference is that CT records slices of the body in several passes, which are then combined as a volume. With DVT, on the other hand, a volume (sphere) is recorded directly in one run, with one recording that contains all the basic data that can be processed in different ways using state-of-the-art software.
This enables us to plan your treatment in the best possible way.
Areas of application
- Implant planning
- Dental anomalies
- Assessment of the maxillary sinuses
- Orthodontic diagnostics
- Displaced teeth (e.g. wisdom teeth)
- Bone changes due to periodontal disease
- Changes in the temporomandibular joint
- Assessment of teeth or regions in the jaws with hearths
Advantages
- Shorter exposure time and lower radiation exposure compared to CTNo claustrophobia
- Thanks to the sophisticated software on the screen, the dentist can take “virtual flights” through the 3D image of the patient’s jaw for treatment planning, clearly showing the relationships between teeth and nerves, as well as bone relationships
- No additional appointment with the radiologist necessary
